More Cases Filed Against Zoloft Manufacturer
Zoloft remains one of the leading treatments for depression. It is classified under selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) that help manage state of low mood and aversion to activity that may affect a person’s thoughts, behavior, feelings and physical well-being. This formulation works by normalizing the level of serotonin in the brain. Consumer reports and complaints reaching the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) say that Zoloft and other antidepressants are causing severe side effects. Some users who had experienced severe side effects while they were using Zoloft have decided to file a lawsuit against its manufacturer.
The severe side effects of Zoloft include increased suicidal thoughts and birth defects. These are the two main complaints of the men and women who filed compensatory claims. The FDA has issued a warning against the use of antidepressants during pregnancy and among users aged below 25 years old. Users who are younger than 25 were found to have increased suicidal thoughts while using them. Some of them ended up killing themselves from depression-related causes. There were also complaints, in some cases, about the Zoloft withdrawal symptoms that they had experienced while they were trying to quit Zoloft.
