Photodynamic Therapy: Macular Degeneration Treatments
The photodynamic therapy is one of the wet macular degeneration treatments, which effectively cures the eye ailment to a greater extent. In this treatment, verteporfin; which is a drug is injected into the arm of the patient which travels throughout the body including the new blood vessels in the eye. After that, a light is shined into the eye of the patient for about 90 seconds. The drug is activated by the light and it destroys the new blood vessels. It is a painless therapy and takes about twenty minutes.
