Why alkalize the blood’s pH?
pH is the measuring scale for the relative alkalinity or acidity of a solution. The measurement of solutions ranges from zero, which indicates high acidity; to fourteen, which indicates high alkalinity. A measurement of seven indicates a neutral state. In a healthy body the optimum blood pH is slightly alkaline and it has to be within the range of 7.35 and 7.45. The human body is comprised of 75% water through which the movement of oxygen, bio chemicals and other important nutrition takes place. The pH balance for this medium, being water-based, is crucial. It is a continuing challenge for the body to maintain this slightly alkaline state because of our consumption of food items that produce acid; and this also explains why it is vital to maintain an alkaline diet.
